Shades of Blood of the Angels

Ok so I've been asked this a few times already so I tried to sit down and tried out some minitaire colors for a Blood Angels paint scheme. It's a bit a pain in the butt for me as I have no love for Blood Angels and it's kinda hard to paint something you can't stand. Anyways, here we go and we'll go over with using a black primer and a white primer.

Painting Plague Marines - Version 1

So a WGC member asked me for the recipe for how I painted the rank and files for my Nurgle Chaos Marines. Here's how I did it and some other various notes you will need to know before you follow this "recipe". (I hate that word).

Unlearning is Fun!

One of the things I like about wargaming is the release of a new edition and/or army/faction/crew book. Many of us really take it personally when something about their game or faction has changed, for the worse, or even sometimes even for the better. It happens all the time. And as those that looks to it as the worse seems to be more vocal about it and for the other school of people who seem to like it but tend to get beat down when voicing an opinion that it's best for them to stay quiet in the corner. I say change is fun and in this article, I'm here voice a little about that.

Creating Hex Patterns

Hex patterns are an easy way to create some great effects, especially on Eldar face plates. Getting tons of questions about how to achieve this affect, Caleb Wissenback, one of the WGC's Next Level Up Painters, decided to write a tutorial for those that are interested!  It's quick, it's easy and the results are excellent! Check it out!

Q&A: I just got my compressor, how do I know if it works?

This Q&A comes from a WGC member over at our facebook group where he asks how he knows if his air compressor works. He just got his set up and is pretty excited to jump into it all. So for those that are about to get their set up, it's an honest question. How do I know if it works?

An Alternative World: The Thunderfire Canon

It's no joke that the Thunderfire Canon can put some hurting out on the table. The versatility and power of this unit is pretty undeniable.  However, the choices you have from GW are either the old metal model or the more newer release of the ever so craptastic and overpriced finecast. But have no fear, here are TWO alternatives you can go with. Check it out.

The Brush: How it's Destroying Miniature Painting

It's not a surprise that the brush has been making it's way through our hobby as the next "in" tool to paint your miniatures. You are seeing it everywhere now-a-days, from youtube videos to blogs and even stores have stocked various sizes and brands of these so-called "brushes". I've decided to pick up one and try it out and after 2 weeks, I have gathered enough knowledge to tell you it's all bullshit. Here's why...

Tau Ethereal Conversion, All it Takes is a Little Head... and an Eldar Body

If you're like me you probably hate finecast and stay away from metals if for nothing else but to keep your army bag light and fluff. With the Tau Ethereal model being either both then you're kinda out of options unless you do a conversion. If you haven't been keeping up lately. This is how I did one quickly as I had to get it done quick to get it out of the way and on the table keeping it all in the plastic family.

Allies is the In Thing and my Tau Wolf Runners

Allies? HORSESHIT! I have always been a purist. When 6th Edition was released and read about Allies, I thought it was cool but as a purist, I largely ignored it. I always thought if you played Space Wolves, you should just play space wolves. No mixing it around. No cheezie pairing. No shananigans! But let's face it, in 6th edition, allies is becoming a huge part of playing Warhammer 40k. So the purist relents and realizes that he's got to change with the times. Not to mention, it's actually quite fun!

The Different Shades of an Ultramarine

Tonight the Coach asked which colors to use to paint an Ultramarine using Minitaire Paints. I've actually been asked this before but because the guy actually changed his mind and went with a different chapter, I didn't really get into it.  Now that Andrew (the Coach) brought it back up again I realized, it's a trick question. Why? Ok, here's why...

A Crap Ton Of Fracking Marines

Since everyone and their mother is blogging about it, I figure we need to blog about it too. So here's our blog entry about the Crap Ton of Fracking Marines for a Crap Ton of Fracking Money. And that image I am using for this isn't with permission so in the chance of me getting a C&D I'm writing this exciting and over reported blog entry... for you. Our reader, our dear fans. BIG CHEESE FRODO POOP STUMP!

Black Templates and future supplements?

As posted on Faeit 212's blog, the Black Templars are being boxed into the upcoming Space Marines Codex and probably going to get a supplement released for them in the future (hopefully near future).  The question is why isn't ALL the space marine chapters being done this way? I, for one, would LOVE to see this structure taken for the other space marine chapters that has their own codex's, even my beloved Space Wolves. Let's weight it out a bit...

Combat Patrol Summary with my Tau

So I just got back from JJ's Game Lounge from a combat patrol tourney and I have to say I do miss playing. If you've been following my projects you'd know I've started to build a Tau army.  I figured with the Combat Patrol tourney, I can get in a game with them since I have enough painted to field 400pts.  It was damn fun and Tau can be pretty freaking ridiculous! Here's a run down of my games.

GW... Not for the Greater Good

It's not a secret that there's a storm brewing behind the battlefield lines for us wargamers when it comes to Games-Workshop.  Hell, you've all heard me rant about it once in a while and while I do it with a little twist of comical irony, the truth can be something that can really hurt us as the gamer and for all our complaining, calling for boycott or trying to convince those that play Warhammer that GW is evil is the WORSE thing you can do.  Why? Read on.

Layering on the Clear Coat, WHY?

Today in this post, is something someone mailed me about and I realized that there's actually more to layering clear coats that most people think. I'll try to explain it, at least, in the way I learned and understand it. Read on.
