Creating Hex Patterns

Hex patterns are an easy way to create some great effects, especially on Eldar face plates. Getting tons of questions about how to achieve this affect, Caleb Wissenback, one of the WGC's Next Level Up Painters, decided to write a tutorial for those that are interested!  It's quick, it's easy and the results are excellent! Check it out!

Q&A: I just got my compressor, how do I know if it works?

This Q&A comes from a WGC member over at our facebook group where he asks how he knows if his air compressor works. He just got his set up and is pretty excited to jump into it all. So for those that are about to get their set up, it's an honest question. How do I know if it works?

The Different Shades of an Ultramarine

Tonight the Coach asked which colors to use to paint an Ultramarine using Minitaire Paints. I've actually been asked this before but because the guy actually changed his mind and went with a different chapter, I didn't really get into it.  Now that Andrew (the Coach) brought it back up again I realized, it's a trick question. Why? Ok, here's why...

Layering on the Clear Coat, WHY?

Today in this post, is something someone mailed me about and I realized that there's actually more to layering clear coats that most people think. I'll try to explain it, at least, in the way I learned and understand it. Read on.

The Patriot 105 Airbrush: Conversion Kits

Many people ask me which airbrush I would recommend and out of the two I usually throw at people the Patriot 105 is one of them.  The other is the Krome for more detailing work but I find that the Patriot 105 is great for more general use with it's .76mm needle. However, most don't know there are conversion kits to push the needle down to a smaller size.  Read on to learn more.

Windex/Ammonia Bad for Airbrushes?

Ok, so here it goes. This is an argument that has irked me since the get go. I use windex to clean my airbrushes.  I spray it through and it gets the paint out.  I don't soak the whole brush in it.  That is bad to prolong an airbrush in ammonia base product.  But I can 100% say that it's ok to spray windex through your airbrush.  Why? Keep reading.

Angels of Absolution with Minitaire

A viewer contacted me through our WGC Facebook page and was asking about what color in the Minitaire line is comparably to bone white. So we'll take a look at the Minitaire Ancient Bone and comparing it to the almost equivalent colors in the Vallejo Colors as this would be the base color you would use for AoA color scheme.

A Look at Cheap Airbrushes

In this video I grab a couple of cheap airbrushes and took a quick look at them and how feasible they are to start with or to use as a long term solution.  This blog post goes a little more in depth about some more of my thoughts about them.

Cheap Spray Booth

So we take a look at a very cheap spray booth.  It costs me $50 and is sold by TCP Global.  It's not too bad but you get what you pay for,.  It's mostly made of plastic but is light weight, portable and cheap.

Pre-Shade and Post Shade Techique on a Space Wolves Rhino

What an awesome and easy way to get shading on to a model.  Pre-shading and post-shading is something I used to make great shading effects on planes and tanks in scale modeling and it was a natural transition to bringing it over into wargaming.
