An Alternative World: The Thunderfire Canon

It's no joke that the Thunderfire Canon can put some hurting out on the table. The versatility and power of this unit is pretty undeniable.  However, the choices you have from GW are either the old metal model or the more newer release of the ever so craptastic and overpriced finecast. But have no fear, here are TWO alternatives you can go with. Check it out.

The Brush: How it's Destroying Miniature Painting

It's not a surprise that the brush has been making it's way through our hobby as the next "in" tool to paint your miniatures. You are seeing it everywhere now-a-days, from youtube videos to blogs and even stores have stocked various sizes and brands of these so-called "brushes". I've decided to pick up one and try it out and after 2 weeks, I have gathered enough knowledge to tell you it's all bullshit. Here's why...

Tau Ethereal Conversion, All it Takes is a Little Head... and an Eldar Body

If you're like me you probably hate finecast and stay away from metals if for nothing else but to keep your army bag light and fluff. With the Tau Ethereal model being either both then you're kinda out of options unless you do a conversion. If you haven't been keeping up lately. This is how I did one quickly as I had to get it done quick to get it out of the way and on the table keeping it all in the plastic family.

Allies is the In Thing and my Tau Wolf Runners

Allies? HORSESHIT! I have always been a purist. When 6th Edition was released and read about Allies, I thought it was cool but as a purist, I largely ignored it. I always thought if you played Space Wolves, you should just play space wolves. No mixing it around. No cheezie pairing. No shananigans! But let's face it, in 6th edition, allies is becoming a huge part of playing Warhammer 40k. So the purist relents and realizes that he's got to change with the times. Not to mention, it's actually quite fun!

The Different Shades of an Ultramarine

Tonight the Coach asked which colors to use to paint an Ultramarine using Minitaire Paints. I've actually been asked this before but because the guy actually changed his mind and went with a different chapter, I didn't really get into it.  Now that Andrew (the Coach) brought it back up again I realized, it's a trick question. Why? Ok, here's why...

A Crap Ton Of Fracking Marines

Since everyone and their mother is blogging about it, I figure we need to blog about it too. So here's our blog entry about the Crap Ton of Fracking Marines for a Crap Ton of Fracking Money. And that image I am using for this isn't with permission so in the chance of me getting a C&D I'm writing this exciting and over reported blog entry... for you. Our reader, our dear fans. BIG CHEESE FRODO POOP STUMP!

Black Templates and future supplements?

As posted on Faeit 212's blog, the Black Templars are being boxed into the upcoming Space Marines Codex and probably going to get a supplement released for them in the future (hopefully near future).  The question is why isn't ALL the space marine chapters being done this way? I, for one, would LOVE to see this structure taken for the other space marine chapters that has their own codex's, even my beloved Space Wolves. Let's weight it out a bit...

Combat Patrol Summary with my Tau

So I just got back from JJ's Game Lounge from a combat patrol tourney and I have to say I do miss playing. If you've been following my projects you'd know I've started to build a Tau army.  I figured with the Combat Patrol tourney, I can get in a game with them since I have enough painted to field 400pts.  It was damn fun and Tau can be pretty freaking ridiculous! Here's a run down of my games.

GW... Not for the Greater Good

It's not a secret that there's a storm brewing behind the battlefield lines for us wargamers when it comes to Games-Workshop.  Hell, you've all heard me rant about it once in a while and while I do it with a little twist of comical irony, the truth can be something that can really hurt us as the gamer and for all our complaining, calling for boycott or trying to convince those that play Warhammer that GW is evil is the WORSE thing you can do.  Why? Read on.

Layering on the Clear Coat, WHY?

Today in this post, is something someone mailed me about and I realized that there's actually more to layering clear coats that most people think. I'll try to explain it, at least, in the way I learned and understand it. Read on.

The Patriot 105 Airbrush: Conversion Kits

Many people ask me which airbrush I would recommend and out of the two I usually throw at people the Patriot 105 is one of them.  The other is the Krome for more detailing work but I find that the Patriot 105 is great for more general use with it's .76mm needle. However, most don't know there are conversion kits to push the needle down to a smaller size.  Read on to learn more.

Windex/Ammonia Bad for Airbrushes?

Ok, so here it goes. This is an argument that has irked me since the get go. I use windex to clean my airbrushes.  I spray it through and it gets the paint out.  I don't soak the whole brush in it.  That is bad to prolong an airbrush in ammonia base product.  But I can 100% say that it's ok to spray windex through your airbrush.  Why? Keep reading.

SUE SUE SUE! More thoughts on GW and MCA

So as I read up more information on this legal thing with GW vs. M.C.A. Hogarth the more thoughts about it comes to mind about how it's important to sometimes take a little stance.  As always, when I make my videos, it's to entertain while still get the information out so sure, it may be over the top, but the message really isn't.  What am I talking about? Read on.

GW Whips it Out Again!

GW up to their good old tricks again. Who is this author they slapped the sue stick with this time? This time it's because someone used the term Space Marine in a Sci-Fi literature. What what what??

The Airbrush and Complete Overhaul

In this video, we're going to take apart the airbrush and talk about some of it's components as well as showing you how I do a complete overhaul with the airbrush if needed.  Most of the time and I highly enforce this, you don't need to take the airbrush completely apart, but sometimes if there's a problem or maybe just one in those blue moon complete maintainence, you need to so I show you how.

KR Multicases - Card Cases

We take a look at the KR Multicase Card Cases and how it works with the whole system.  I love the modular set up with this system and the carrying case solutions are pretty nice.  If you set it all up and compare it to the same set up to other companies, it's actually a great bang for the buck!

1 on 1 - YouTube Channel Advice ft. The Coach

I sit down with the Coach and answer some questions he had about his YouTube Channel... one on one with me. It's a new series where I try and sit down with someone and have them directly ask questions about a topic they need help with. The Coach had tons of questions he compiled from the rest of the Red Steel: NY crew.

Angels of Absolution with Minitaire

A viewer contacted me through our WGC Facebook page and was asking about what color in the Minitaire line is comparably to bone white. So we'll take a look at the Minitaire Ancient Bone and comparing it to the almost equivalent colors in the Vallejo Colors as this would be the base color you would use for AoA color scheme.

A Look at Cheap Airbrushes

In this video I grab a couple of cheap airbrushes and took a quick look at them and how feasible they are to start with or to use as a long term solution.  This blog post goes a little more in depth about some more of my thoughts about them.

Cheap Spray Booth

So we take a look at a very cheap spray booth.  It costs me $50 and is sold by TCP Global.  It's not too bad but you get what you pay for,.  It's mostly made of plastic but is light weight, portable and cheap.

By the Emporer's Butthole!

Big, long, high pointed, inflated loving, epic, baby got back, FAT ASS hobby!  This hobby is a monster since I first jumped back into Warhammer 40k and Fantasy. So tell me, dear reader, what the frack happened to me? What a minute, did I just say "FRACK"?

Badger Minitaire Ghost Tints. They are also known as "Candies". They are basically translucent paints that you can use to lay on top of other colors or shades of grays to create some awesome effects.

Happy New Years! Since 2013 is in our door now, are you ready to zoom and go go? So with every new years, there's always reflection about the past.  As least for me that is.  I figured I share some blast from the past about online communities and my journey through it all!
